Meet the Macmillan Christmas Team: Julie Lowry
Not only have our committee members given their time, passion and skills to Macmillan Cornwall Christmas Fair, we’ve asked them to share some words about why they’ve gotten involved:
Julie Lowry – Tombola
I am delighted to be part of the Macmillan Christmas Fair Committee – it has been over 10 years since I first came on board –I became involved initially through my role as Marketing/Events Manager for a local law firm and although I have left work it is still great to be part of the fund-raising team. I am part of the event coordination team and last year my role was to help Pix with the new branding. Re-vamping the Tombola was my mission last year and this year I aim to help make it the Tombola of all Tombolas!
Being able to help raise money to support Macmillan Nurses in Cornwall is a good feeling – sadly everyone knows someone , friend , family or work colleague that has been affected by cancer and the more funds we raise the more we can help. It is amazing to think that over the last 21 years the Christmas Fair has raised in excess of £ 430,000– that’s the best Christmas present ever!
I hope everyone will come and share a little Christmas magic at our Fair again this year and help to make 2016 a better year for those who are dealing with cancer.
