FESTIVE FAIR RAISES VITAL FUNDS
£64,000 raised to help cancer patients in Cornwall
As Macmillan continues to expand its essential services within Cornwall, the 2017 Cornwall Macmillan Christmas Fair held at Eden Project earlier this month/last month has raised a record-breaking £64,000 to directly support Cornwall’s cancer patients.
Organised by a team of volunteers, with the support of the Eden events team, the famous biomes (this year turned Macmillan Green for the duration of the Fair) played host to one of the county’s most vibrant and popular Christmas events. With ticket sales well up on last year, visitors flocked to Eden over the two days of the Fair, setting the Christmas season off to a flying start.
“This is the biggest amount we have raised in the event’s history,” explains Committee Co-Chairman Jane Hartley. “Since the Fair was first launched 26 years ago by our President Lady Mary Holborow, we have now raised in excess of £634,000 for Macmillan in Cornwall. From the committee of volunteers, stallholders and business sponsors, through to the Eden Project and the visitors themselves, we’re very grateful to everyone for their continued support.”
The 2017 Cornwall Macmillan Christmas Fair was sponsored and supported by Lillicrap Chilcott, CleanEarth, Camel Creek Adventure Park, South West Water, Ginsters of Cornwall, Santander, Trevornick, Voice Group, Wild West, Walker Crips, PKF Francis Clark, Jarrang, Headland Printers, St Austell Brewery, Western Power, The Old Ship Hotel Padstow and Coode’s. Fee Turner Catering also generously donated.
