The Cornwall Christmas Fair 2020 to support the Cornwall Community Foundation
In 1998 a group of far-sighted people identified the need to give those struggling in the community a voice and to establish a source of funding for community self-help within Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. That small acorn grew to become the Cornwall Community Foundation in 2003.
Since 2003, the Foundation has awarded more than £9 million to Cornish communities, supporting more than 5,000 local, grass-roots organisations. In 2019 alone, £734,000 was awarded in grants to 539 projects across Cornwall to strengthen communities. We believe that grass-roots community groups have the power to change lives for the better. Our aim is simple, we bring together people who want to help Cornish communities with projects that make a real difference.
The Cornwall Community Foundation has been right at the forefront in supporting vulnerable Cornish communities since COVID hit. In the last ten weeks the Cornwall Community Foundation Emergency Fund has handed out 198 grants totalling just under £440,000 to over 119 organisations, ranging from local food banks, to family support groups and those providing care to vulnerable individuals. The fund will be in even more demand as the rebuild process starts, with so many across Cornwall facing a challenging future.
The Cornwall Christmas Fair 2020 will take place on Thursday 12 November (Preview Evening on Wednesday 11 November) at the Eden Project.
The Eden Project has again very generously offered to host the Fair and sponsors including Lillicrap Chilcott, Ginsters of Cornwall, Dales, Coodes, Walker Crips, Nixon Design, Jarrang, VoiceGroup, Wild West and The Old Ship Hotel have already confirmed their support.
